St. Louis’ original craft brewery is taking dark beer in an unexpected direction this winter. While most breweries lean into the predictable parade of stouts and porters, Schlafly Beer‘s new Hello Darkness sampler pack ventures into more intriguing territory with three distinct styles that showcase the darker side of brewing.

The 12-bottle collection features a hop-forward Black IPA that marries dank American hops with robust dark malts, a sessionable Dark Mild that pays homage to British pub culture at just 3.8% ABV, and a contemporary spin on the monk-approved Doppelbock. Each style gets four bottles in the pack, offering enough to share or savor solo through the cold months ahead.

Packaged in a case featuring moody nighttime photography of their historic 1902 Tap Room building, Hello Darkness replaces Schlafly’s previous Stout Bout winter variety pack. It’s a bold move that brings some of their taproom-only experimental offerings to a wider audience. The limited release is available now through early February at Schlafly’s four brewpubs and across their distribution footprint. Consider it your invitation to explore the shadows beyond stout season.
