American Cruise Lines marked a significant moment for U.S. coastal cruising on November 10, 2025, as their latest vessel, American Pioneer, was officially christened at Mallory Square in Key West.
The event brought together nearly 100 passengers, crew members, company executives, and local officials, highlighting Key West’s growing importance in the company’s itinerary strategy. Since their first docking in the region just two years ago, American Cruise Lines has now deployed three new ships here, with the American Pioneer being the newest.
During his remarks, President and CEO Charles B. Robertson noted that the company’s goal is to grow from three to ten ships in this market alone, citing shipyard orders as proof of that ambition. Key West’s Mayor Danise “Dee Dee” Henriquez served as godmother of the ship and connected the region’s maritime heritage to the christening ceremony.
The American Pioneer has already embarked on its inaugural 16-day “Grand Florida Coast & Keys” cruise, sailing from Amelia Island to St. Petersburg, Florida.
