Fairmont Rio de Janeiro Copacabana just opened a hotel inside its hotel. The new Fairmont Gold program sets aside 69 rooms and suites as a private enclave with its own management, reception, and concierge team, separate from the main hotel’s check-in line. The hub is the Gold Lounge on the fourth floor, a roughly 4,300-square-foot space designed by architect Patricia Anastassiadis, hung with work from Hugo França and Artur Lescher, and looking straight out at Copacabana Beach. Gold guests get breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening snacks there, plus a 6 to 8pm happy hour built around the hotel’s mixology program and daily cachaça tastings. There’s also a private Gold Solarium for guests who want a quieter dinner with the same view, and a concierge desk staffed by lifelong cariocas who can get you past the tourist version of Rio. Fairmont Gold is open now at the property in Copacabana.
