Can you believe 2015 has come to an end? It was certainly one for the books for me, and I refuse to let such an epic year go out on anything but a bang.
My friends at BACARDÍ have been throwing some pretty sweet house parties (#BacardiHouseParty) and it’s inspired me to do the same. The ideas below are just some suggestions to help make your party that much better.
Create a Theme for Your Party
There is nothing more fun than going to a party that has a theme. In some ways it’s like you get to be a different person for the night. This especially is true for masquerade parties. Best of all it isn’t super expensive. Most masks are fairly cheap, so as long as your guest has an outfit to go with the mask, you won’t be asking them to spend a lot of money on your party.
Of course a masquerade party might be a little too much for your guests. If that’s the case and you think they would want something a bit more basic, I would go with the classic white party or simply, formal attire. You really can’t go wrong with either of these options and they make for great photos.
Have a Signature Cocktail
Whether it’s a cocktail you created or one of BACARDÍ’s signature cocktails, make sure you have something that your guests can call by name. A personal favorite of mine is the Rum Old Fashioned, made using BACARDÍ 8 Años. Last year when I threw a party at my place I had the Rum Old Fashioned as the signature drink for the night. Once a guest had one they kept coming back for more and requesting it by name. No surprise there.

Blast the Tunes
Music may sound like a given, but I can’t tell you how many parties I’ve attended where there was an awkward silence and no music to fill the dead air. I highly recommend signing up for a premium streaming music service like Apple Music, Spotify, and/or Pandora, so you can create playlists and run the tracks in the order you want. Some services even have a fun DJ mode where your guests can control what song plays next. Not a bad option!
Make it a BYOA Party
BYOA, you know — Bring Your Own Appetizer. Some people want full control of their party, but I say let your guests bring what they like. Have you ever had someone bring something food related that you didn’t later see snacking in the corner of the room? Yeah, me neither. Now that food is covered you can focus on the other important things that will make your party epic.
