There is nothing worse than waking up on the wrong side of the bed, but what if it’s not actually the wrong side of the bed you are waking up on? What if it’s actually just the wrong mattress? The perfect mattress is essential for a good night’s rest. Hitting that deep slumber will only occur if and only IF you start to understand just how important your quality of the mattress is.
First things first. There are plenty of things that get better with age: wine, cheese, and even you. Unfortunately, your mattress is not included on that list. Over time, your mattress starts to break down. The original comfort and support you used to receive eventually wears out. Depending on the quality of mattress you purchased, you should be able to have a good seven to ten years of mattress life expectancy. Back pain, neck pain, stiffness, and aches are a few general indicators that it may be time to get a new mattress. Other questions to ask yourself when uncertain if your mattress is worn out: Do you look forward to getting into bed at night? Is it more comfortable when you sleep in a hotel or on your best friend’s couch? If you answered yes to either of those, it’s time to up your mattress game.
So, you need a new mattress? We know this can be overwhelming, but don’t worry – we’ve got the perfect checklist for you.
1. Size matters!
We understand that the bed is a pretty important part of life. Purchasing a king mattress is perfect for anyone, seriously. Whether you sleep alone or share the bed with kids, dogs, or your spouse, a king size mattress would be the perfect fit for you. Imagine this: you are lying in bed with 2 dogs, 2 kids, and your spouse, except you don’t realize they are there. With all that room, you can officially say goodbye to elbows in the face, snoring in your ears, and the constant tug of war with the covers. For all of you single sleepers, imagine being able to have the option to sleep at any angle you want, move as much as you want, and never worry about being too close to the edge.
2. To foam or not to foam?
Memory foam can be an acquired taste and many people agree you either love it or you hate it. We suggest trying out different mattresses before you purchase. Get to know where you’ll be spending those eight hours at night. This is a process, we understand, and we are here for you.
3. That’s thick!
We know that we’ve already mentioned size matters, but did you know that thickness matters too? Thicker mattresses have a tendency to last longer and add more support. This also depends on your personal level of comfort when purchasing a mattress.
Now that you’ve got your new mattress, why not switch up some of that boring bedroom décor you bought with the first mattress? Every new mattress needs a new set of sheets! And every new set of sheets needs a new comforter. But why stop there? This mattress has turned you into a new person and we think your walls should reflect that. How about some metal posters? They allow you to create your own designs so you can show off your new personality that came with your new mattress! Or what about spicing things up and adding that new wall mounted TV to the other side of the room? Whatever you decide, we know that this is an exciting time for you and purchasing a new mattress is something we think is worth celebrating.
Now that you’ve got your new mattress, here are a few things you might begin to notice. You start to become one with your bed. You start to notice that it seems quieter, it smells better, and you feel younger than you are. There is no better feeling than being able to fall asleep knowing that you don’t have to worry about waking up on the wrong side of the bed. Because with a new mattress, there is no wrong side.
