C.L.LINK Turned the Suzuki Jimny Nomade Into a Baby ’90s GMC Typhoon

Japanese tuner C.L.LINK and #FR2 founder Ryo Ishikawa turned the five-door Suzuki Jimny Nomade into a pint-size '90s GMC Typhoon tribute. It debuts at Tokyo Auto Salon 2027.

Dressing up a Jimny as some other legendary 4×4 is a cottage industry in Japan. Hiroshima tuner C.L.LINK picked the one nobody else did: the GMC Typhoon.

Working with #FR2 founder Ryo Ishikawa, C.L.LINK gave the five-door Jimny Nomade a full ’90s muscle-truck makeover: square headlights, a new grille and bumper, red UMC badges in its font, and a body-color smoothing panel in place of the tailgate spare.

Best part: in a scene where lifting a Jimny is mandatory, C.L.LINK lowered it an inch on Eibach coils and Bilstein shocks, then restaged the Typhoon’s moody ’90s press photo for the reveal. The 1.5-liter’s 100 horsepower carries over untouched, so this one is all show. Fitting, since the real Typhoon was a hot-rodded GMC Jimmy.

It debuts at Tokyo Auto Salon 2027, January 15 to 17, with order books opening there. One catch: the Nomade pulled 50,000 orders in its first four days in Japan, so Suzuki suspended the books. We’ve been on a 4×4 kick lately, including the Land Rover Classic Defender Works V8 Conversion.
