Mercedes-AMG GT SUV Packs 1,153 HP and Charges at 710 kW

The all-electric Mercedes-AMG GT SUV is AMG's first in-house SUV, with up to 1,153 hp, 710 kW charging and a claimed 435 miles of range. US sales start summer 2027.

AMG built its name on hand-built V8s, so an all-electric SUV carrying the GT badge is a statement. The Mercedes-AMG GT SUV is the first full-size SUV developed entirely in-house at Affalterbach, and it arrives with numbers that read like a hypercar’s. The range-topping GT 63 runs three axial-flux motors for 1,153 horsepower and 1,475 lb-ft of torque, hitting 60 mph in a claimed 2.4 seconds. Below it sit the 805-hp GT 55 and the 536-hp GT 53.

The charging specs might be the bigger story. The 800-volt battery takes up to 710 kW, enough to add a claimed 282 miles of range in 10 minutes, with up to 435 miles of WLTP range from the larger 128-kWh pack. AMG even pipes in a simulated V8 soundtrack for anyone mourning the old formula. US sales start summer 2027, and pricing is still under wraps. If Brabus turning the G 63 into a 900-hp convertible is old-school excess, this is the electric version of the same idea.
