Polaris RZR Pro R Factory Boost Side Profile

Polaris Built a $200,000 Desert Race Car You Can Actually Order

The Polaris RZR Pro R Factory Boost is a 400-hp factory desert race car starting at $200,000, with orders open through February 15, 2027.

Polaris just did something absurd and completely on brand: a side-by-side with 400 horsepower and a $200,000 starting price, built by the factory and sold to anyone fast enough to order one. The RZR Pro R Factory Boost broke cover on October 30 at Camp RZR in Glamis, California, and it is not a concept or a one-off. It is a race machine with an order window. I have not driven it, so this is the announcement, not a test.

400 horsepower, depending on drive mode

The headline number comes from a race-tuned, turbocharged ProStar Fury 2.0-liter four-cylinder, rated at up to 400 horsepower depending on the drive mode selected. For context, the production RZR Pro R Boost makes 275 horsepower, so the Factory Boost adds roughly 125 more. Polaris has not published a torque figure or boost pressure, and there are no independently verified performance results yet, so treat the 400 as a factory rating for now.

Built for the desert, not the trailhead

The Factory Boost is not a production machine with bolt-ons. Polaris stretched the chassis, wrapped it in carbon fiber bodywork, gave it a roomier cockpit, and fitted race-proven cooling, suspension, braking, and drivetrain systems. It builds on the Gen 2 RZR Pro R Factory, the car Polaris credits with beating the UTV field at virtually every major off-road race. The machine is built in Roseau, Minnesota, by Polaris engineers, and it joins the existing RZR Pro R Factory in the lineup rather than replacing it.

What $200,000 actually buys

The price is the story, but the factory backing is the point. A privateer team would spend far more than $200,000 building a comparable desert racer from a production machine, and still would not have factory engineering behind it. This is Polaris selling its own race program as a product, in limited quantities, with post-sale support included in the deal. It is not a toy for weekend trail rides. It is a competition vehicle with a price tag to match.

How to order

Orders run through SCI Distribution, LLC, based in San Diego, California, which is the exclusive distributor for the RZR Pro R Factory Boost and handles sales and post-sale customer support. The first order window closes February 15, 2027. The RZR Factory Racing team plans to debut the machine at the 2027 King of the Hammers, entering it in multiple races, which is where the 400-horsepower claim meets the clock.

If you are a racer with a budget and a desert season to plan, this is the most direct route to a factory car Polaris has ever offered. If you are not, it is still the most entertaining spec sheet of the year.
