By far, one of my favorite comedians and performers is Bo Burnham. So when I found out he had a new special coming to Netflix, I was super excited about it.
Bo Burnham: Inside is a comedy-drama special written, directed, shot, and edited by Bo Burnham at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. The entire special was shot without a crew.
If you know his work already, then you know the hilarious and thought-provoking songs he creates. In Bo Burnham: Inside, one of my personal favorite songs is ‘FaceTime with My Mom (Tonight). He perfectly captures the experience of FaceTiming with your mom and how it can be a frustrating rollercoaster of emotions. Watch it below:
For someone as successful as Burnham, it’s odd to have a five-year gap in between projects. However, during the touring of his last comedy special, Make Happy (2016), Burnham had begun to experience panic attacks onstage. He touches on this a bit in his new special, available not on Netflix.
