Carl’s Jr. & Hardee’s Unveil Spiciest Burger in Fast Food Industry

According to the National Restaurant Association spicy items will be one of the top 25 menu trends in 2015. Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s took note of this and created the spiciest burger in fast food history with the El Diablo, the latest edition to their Thickburgers lineup.

So what exactly goes into the El Diablo burger to give it the prestigious title of spiciest burger? Try four sources of fiery flavor including sliced jalapeños, crunchy Jalapeño Poppers, spicy habanero bacon sauce and pepper-Jack cheese, all on top of a 100% Black Angus beef patty. Not a fan of cow? Both chains will also offer a Crispy Chicken El Diablo sandwich featuring the spicy four on top of a 5-ounce crispy chicken fillet.

“When it comes to spicy food, a lot of the consumer research being done on the topic today clearly shows that the public’s desire for heat just keeps growing and growing every year,” said Brad Haley, chief marketing officer of Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s. “We’ve witnessed that phenomenon in our own restaurants, where potential menu items that used to be rated as ‘too spicy’ in our market tests just a few years ago are now just right.

Sara Sampaio in El Diablo Carl's Jr. commercial

To follow their viral Super Bowl ad starring Charlotte McKinney, Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s created a bold and spicy commercial for El Diablo featuring 2014 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue Rookie of the Year and Victoria’s Secret model Sara Sampaio. Titled “Too Hot To Handle” features the gorgeous Portuguese-born model melting an ice hotel while eating her Thickburger El Diablo.
