If you’re an IPA beer and whiskey fan, then you’re going to love Jameson‘s latest release. Jameson Caskmates IPA Edition blends together the hoppy notes from IPA craft beer with the smooth, delicious taste of Jameson whiskey.

“Quality and taste have always been our reason to be. Jameson Caskmates IPA was born from the dedication of the whiskey making tradition that John Jameson established in 1780, combined with a relentless pursuit of original and innovative expressions for our whiskeys. Jameson Caskmates IPA brings the crisp, hoppy notes that characterizes IPA beer together with the triple-distilled smoothness of Jameson to create a one-of-a-kind and exceptional tasting whiskey.”

– Sebastien Borda, Brand Director Jameson Irish Whiskey, Pernod Ricard USA

It’s been roughly two years now since Shane Long, head brewer at a local Irish brewery, and David Quinn, Head of Whiskey Science at Jameson, teamed up to create the Jameson Caskmates program. After a few successful releases, the brand is expanding their Caskmates offering with a new whiskey that is aged in IPA beer barrels.

Jameson Caskmates IPA Edition echoes the process used to establish the Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition, the first whiskey and beer collaboration. Midleton distillery supplies the local Irish brewery with propriety oak whiskey barrels, which are filled with their local craft IPA. Following the IPA’s extraction of its crisp citrus notes, the barrels are then sent back to Jameson to be reused to finish Jameson Original, resulting in Jameson Caskmates IPA Edition. Because of the time Jameson Original spends in the IPA barrels, the finished product has a smooth taste with a crisp, hoppy finish.

Available at retail locations and neighborhood bars nationwide, Jameson Caskmates IPA Edition is 40% Alc./Vol. (80 proof) and retails for a suggested retail price of $29.99 per 750 mL bottle.
