It’s that time of year again: the nights are getting longer, the kids are back in school, and the market saturation of everything pumpkin has commenced. If you happen to be among those this as a good thing, Southern Tier Brewing Co. has a delectable pumpkin beer that you absolutely need to try. The imperial pumpkin ale is called Pumking and with its sweet/spicy taste and low bitterness, it’s essentially pumpkin pie in a bottle.

On their website there are several suggestions as to how to drink it — out of a goblet during a Thanksgiving feast being a good one — but the best suggestion seems to be a few years after you purchase it. Never tried to age a pumpkin ale before but we’ll definitely be sure to grab an extra case or two just for that when we stock up this fall. You should probably do the same.
