One of the things that’s great about being a Samsung Home Appliances Ambassador is staying in the know with all the great new recipes they have coming from their Chefs’ kitchen. Like the Sweet Potato Mochi recipe below.
While in Berlin for IFA, I saw first hand what Samsung was unleashing on the world in 2016. From new appliances in their Chef Collection to the POWERbot Robotic Vacuum Cleaner (more on that soon).
The Sweet Potato Mochi recipe was inspired by a poll the @SamsungHomeAppliances Instagram account did a few weeks ago, asking fans what is the perfect pairing to a delightful dessert: tea or coffee? Tea won, so chef Christopher Kostow created the Sweet Potato Mochi recipe to go along with your next afternoon tea.
Ingredients
Yields 50 1″ square pieces
- 500 g | sweet potato juice
- 500 g | yam juice
- 150 g | kuzu
- 150 g | water
- Yield: 50 portions, 1” square
Directions:
Combine the sweet potato and yam juice in a pot and bring to a boil. In a separate bowl, make a slurry of kuzu and water. As the juice cooks it will begin to thicken. Continue to boil until the starches break down. Then add the slurry and bring back to a boil. Cook for 30 seconds and then remove from the pot from the heat. Pour the contents onto a ¼ tray lined with a sheet of acetate. Place a second sheet of acetate on the top surface followed by a second sheet tray and press gently with a few pounds of weight. Cool completely before removing from the tray and portioning into 1” squares. Watch my quick 15-second video I put together making the Sweet Potato Mochi.
For the first week of 2016 I’ll be heading to Las Vegas with Samsung Home Appliances to attend CES. Follow @SamsungHomeAppliances and @JoesDaily on Instagram to see what Samsung releases. If IFA was any indication of what is in store for CES, I think we are in for one killer show.
See you on the convention floor!
