Interior home inspiration

It’s easy to think that your home will stay your home forever. By that, we mean that it will remain as pretty and as flawless as the day you bought it. After all, with the right love and care, why wouldn’t it? Well, unfortunately, even with maintenance, things happen. And the time goes by. And seasons change. And as all of this happens, it takes its toll on your home. Not only that, your preferences may vary. You may even find that how you use your home in the summer isn’t the same as how you use it in the winter. This may mean that you need to make a lot of changes and put the time in to get the home ready for summer, or any other season, for that matter.

Because this can take some time, planning, and a lot of work too, you may want to think about what you’re going to do as each season approaches. That way, you give yourself time between seasons to get the work done and continue to do maintenance as you’re enjoying each period too. With summer coming up, it’s a good idea to allocate a portion of your decor budget to this season – that way, you’ll find that you can make the most of it. So let’s take a look at what you can do to get your home ready for summer this year.

Have A Huge Clean

To begin with, the very first thing that you might want to do here is have a massive clean of your home. Most of the time, we think about doing this in spring. And yes, while that is a great time to do it, it’s not the only time that might work out for you. Because our homes can get dirty from season to season. So aside from the usual cleaning that you do, kicking things off with a big summer clean could be perfect.

Change Accent Colors

Now, we’re going to move on to some more decorative touches. And one of the quickest ways that you can get your home ready for summer is to change some of the accent colors around. Maybe you’ve used dark pillows and throws in the winter? Then why not switch them out to brighter colors for summer?

Change Fabrics

As a step on from that, you might also want to think about changing up the fabrics that you’re using too. In winter, faux furs and fleeces are perfect for warmth. But they can be too heavy for the summer months. Instead, cotton or silk or linen-based products or fabrics could be better.

Repair Your AC

The next thing that you will want to do if you need to, is to repair your AC. If you know that your aircon system isn’t as efficient as it could be – or that it broke last summer, then this needs to be a priority of yours before the heat of summer kicks in.

Add-In Decorative Touches

Next up, you’ll want to think about the decorative touches that you can make to your house, that also add to the lovely summer ambiance you’re trying to create. For this, breezy blinds, or ceiling fans 84″ and larger could be what you need. Just think about what kind of decorative pieces you can bring into the space to add to the overall atmosphere.

Change The Beds

Another tiny thing that you can do, that helps, is to change the beds over. During the winter, you may find that you want to sleep with a thicker top to keep warm – but this can be too thick for summer. So now is the perfect time for you to put on lighter sheets so that you can sleep easier.

Declutter A Little

The next step for you here could be to work on a little bit of decluttering. Because it’s easy for your home to get a little bit disorganized from season to season. And it can be hard to manage. Yet, you will find that there are some quick decluttering techniques you can employ to make this work out for you. And then, to maintain this, the trick is, for you to make sure that you’re going through, at least a few times a year, to keep on top of things going forward.

Let More Light In

In the summer, we all get showered with such beautiful light. And so you might want to think about how you can let this all in! If you usually have thick curtains, why not change them? At least open the blinds in the mornings or throw open the windows. Not only will this keep things circulating the home, but it will brighten the space up too.

Change Your Tableware

Another small win is to look to your table! Because you can really lighten up your table decor and dinner time with brighter crockery, cutlery, and dinnerware in the summer. It’s nice to have a summer set that you can use for regular occasions, as well as special sets too.

Spruce The Garden

And now, you’re going to head outside. Because it’s not just the inside that might benefit from a little TLC at this time of year. As we all know, during the summer, it’s nice to be able to head outside to enjoy the warmer weather. But if your garden is a bit of a mess, then this won’t be a lot of fun. So, instead, you’ll want to get out there ahead of time and give it a spruce. Sometimes just a few changes can make a wealth of difference.

Clean The Dining Space

And then next up, you’re going to want to focus specifically on your outdoor eating or sitting area. Because over the winter months, they can get a little dirty. And now that you’re going to be using them a lot more, it’s nice to be able to clean up the decking or patio area and get it in shape for the summer.

Invest In New Pieces

The next thing that you might want to think about doing here, is investing in new pieces for the outside. Because you are more likely to use the outside space more in the summer. So it’s nice to look into options for your dining space that inspire you and shop for a few new pieces. This can be especially effective if you want to be able to liven the space up in just a small way.

Make More Plans

Finally, just for fun, you may find that it’s a great idea for you to put some summer plans in place. Because now you have all of these ideas (and you may have even worked on some), it’s a great idea to make more use of your summer-ready home with your friends and family. Plus, with plans in place, you have more incentive to finish off certain jobs.

And that’s all there is to it. Of course, this may seem like a long list – and that’s because it is. But you really don’t have to do it all. You can pick and choose the things that are going to work out best for you. Maybe you’ll select one or two, or eight or nine. You will definitely find that some points do not apply to your home or lifestyle – and that’s okay. It’s more about taking your own approach to maintaining your home and really getting the most out of living in it.

Improve the Outside of the Property

This is something that plays a massive part in helping to improve your home this summer, and tackling the exterior of the property is much easier in the summer. This is something that you need to try to get right, and there are a lot of different ways of being able to improve their home’s exterior as much as possible. Being able to prepare your home for the summer involves a lot of factors, and one of the main ones is looking at what you can do to improve the way the home looks, and to be proud of it once again.

One of the best ways of achieving this is to make sure you think about things like siding, windows, the roof, and other important elements.
