As a Samsung Home Appliances Ambassador I was pleased to hear that they were interested in me flying out to Vegas to attend CES 2016. Just last year I had the good fortune of joining Samsung in Berlin for my first IFA event. There I got to see the unveiling of the POWERbot VR9000 (which I now own) and the Samsung AddWash washer. Both are game changers in their respective fields.
For CES 2016, SHA had something special to unveil to their Vegas guests; meet the Samsung Family Hub Refrigerator.
The name is made perfectly clear the moment you get your hands on it. Samsung is on a mission to bring the refrigerator to the forefront of every household.
“With the new and innovative Family Hub Refrigerator, we are transforming the communal kitchen experience for consumers in ways that will re-define how they view and use their refrigerator,” said John Herrington, Senior Vice President, General Manager of Home Appliances, Samsung Electronics America.
At IFA 2015, Samsung spoke a lot about the Internet of Things, and how they are hard at work creating new exciting products that will all work together. The Family Hub fridge is a shining example of this. Its beautiful design houses a 21.5 inch full HD LCD screen located on the right exterior door. This is where all communications are displayed. Consumers will be able to post, share and update calendars, share their kids’ work of art (magnets not required), leave notes and pin photos – all from the familiar comfort of their smartphone.
But that’s not all. Samsung has teamed up with Master Card to make shopping even easier. Right from the display you can shop and order food to fill up your fridge. Of course if that’s not your style, heading to the grocery store just got cooler. How many times have you made a trip the store and while inside you’re kicking yourself for not checking whether or not you had milk? Thanks to the built-in cameras located inside, every time you close the fridge door a photo is taken. You can access the latest photo the Family Hub snapped from the Samsung Smart Home app.
The Family Hub is quite impressive on the outside for its dynamic display and its unique design, but we can’t leave out the inside. It features Samsung’s FlexZone technology that transforms the fridge to a freezer to help manage your food storage needs. It also keeps your food fresher thanks to its Triple and Metal Cooling system.
Samsung and their Internet of Things initiative is transforming how households experience life together, one appliance at a time.
The Samsung Family Hub Refrigerator will be available in Spring 2016 in Counter Depth, Full Depth, Stainless and a new Black Stainless design.
