British Yachtsman Alex Thomson is no stranger to death-defying stunts. In fact, he’s established himself as quite the daredevil in the sport of sailing. You might be asking yourself, “what exactly does sailing stunts look like?” Watch The Skywalk below and find out.
The Skywalk was carried out by Alex Thomson Racing, in partnership with HUGO BOSS and Mercedes-Benz. 35 people were involved in the making of the stunt, including professional kite-surfer Susi Mai, kite-surfing coach Ray Kasper, and Alex Thomson Racing Operations Manager Ross Daniel.
About The Skywalk Stunt
Sure, you just watched the video, but how about a little bit of a breakdown of the stunt collaboration? On a kiteboard, Alex Thomson chases his IMOCA open 60 HUGO BOSS boat upwind and attaches himself via a rope to the top of the boat’s mast. By utilizing the speed of the race boat, Thomson then propels himself 280ft into the air far above the HUGO BOSS yacht. When he’s at the peak of the flight, he detaches himself from the boat and guides himself back down to the water, all-while sporting a HUGO BOSS suit. Nailed it!
