Hoka’s Speedgoat is the trail shoe other trail shoes get measured against. The Speedgoat 7 Hike GTX takes that platform and turns it into a proper hiking boot for multi-day miles.
The recipe stays familiar: a supercritical EVA midsole, a Vibram Megagrip outsole with 5mm lugs, and an 11.1 ounce build in a men’s US 9. What changes is the upper. A GORE-TEX Invisible Fit membrane keeps water out, Kevlar yarn adds durability, and a lightly padded ankle collar keeps debris where it belongs, outside the boot. A dynamic vamp lets toes splay naturally on long days, which matters more at mile 15 than mile one.
It is built for thru hiking and fastpacking, not for looking the part at the trailhead. At $190, it costs the same as plenty of boots that weigh more and do less. It comes in black, Barley, and Spiced Chocolate.
