Ornot’s new Fog Eater is a 20K/20K waterproof cycling rain jacket built for real weather. It comes from a San Francisco brand raised on microclimates and fog.
The shell is 3-layer Pertex Shield, fully taped, with a PFC-free DWR. A medium weighs 280 grams. The whole thing stuffs into its own left hand pocket, packing down to about six inches square.
The two-way front zipper opens from the bottom. You can vent or reach jersey pockets without unzipping the whole thing. The hood is cut to wear under a helmet, not over one. Most hooded shells try to swallow a helmet and end up catching wind. Ornot sized this one small for real downpours. It works as a normal hood off the bike.
Men’s runs XS to XXL in Stone Green and Citron, and women’s XS to XL in Citron. It’s the opposite end of the jacket spectrum from the Todd Snyder x Lagavulin Stable Jacket I covered last week. It sits $77 above Ornot’s own Micro Climate Jacket. The Fog Eater is $325, available now direct from Ornot.
