Shady Rays and Pappy & Co. Built Sunglasses Around a Hidden Bourbon Logo

Shady Rays and Pappy & Co. built a $250 numbered sunglasses run with a hidden Van Winkle logo inside the hinge. Launches September 30.

Shady Rays and Pappy & Co. Built Sunglasses Around a Hidden Bourbon Logo

Shady Rays teamed up with Pappy & Company on the Pappy & Co. Special Reserve, a from-scratch frame built to reference the Van Winkle bourbon family rather than just wear their name. The core wire inside the temples reproduces the filigree from the Pappy Van Winkle 20-Year label, and the gold-toned hardware is color-matched to one of the original keys that hung on the doors of the old Stitzel-Weller Distillery. The Pappy & Co. three-key logo itself only shows up inside the hinge, visible when the temple opens. The frame comes in Smoke Tortoise acetate with polarized lenses, and each pair is individually numbered out of a run of 999, with no second production planned.

It launches nationally September 30 at ShadyRays.com and PappyCo.com for $250, one pair per customer, following a September 29 pre-release at Shady Rays’ eight retail stores.
