Everyone wants to be a streamer these days, especially when you learn how much streamers make. In this post, I review the new Blue Yeti X, Blue’s flagship USB microphone.
When it comes to streaming, there are countless things you need to consider. From your pc setup to all the computer peripherals that are necessary to make your stream possible. Arguably the most important is the audio — not just the levels of your game, but how good your microphone sounds. I have struggled with this in the past, and it drove me insane. Even when my viewers would swear to me things were sounding ok, that wasn’t good enough for me. As a fan of watching streams myself, I know how vital a good microphone is and how quickly I’ll switch off of a stream because their audio is terrible.
I have been on the hunt for an affordable microphone for a while now that would sound as good as the top streamers without breaking the bank, and I believe I have finally found it.
Blue Yeti X Review
Now that I’ve had plenty of time to put the Blue Yeti X through proper testing on my stream, I figured I would add my two cents for those looking for a good streaming microphone. Whether you’re on Twitch, creating a YouTube video, or recording a new podcast, the Blue Yeti X has got you covered.
Yeti X Features
- Four-capsule condenser: for greater focus and clarity
- LED meter: visualize and control your voice level in real-time
- Multi-function smart knob: control your headphone volume, blend, mute, and mic gain with ease
- Blue VO!CE: broadcast vocal effects with unique presets for streamers and podcasters
- Four pickup patterns: cardioid, omni, bi-directional and stereo
- Plug ‘n play: works instantly on both Mac and PC
- Logitech G HUB: provides even more control of your microphone and its settings
Voice Test
Instead of creating a pointless audio clip, I decided to feature an end game Twitch clip from one of my Fortnite matches. There isn’t a whole lot of talking in the video, but what you do hear from me sounds crisp and clean. Best of all, the audio hasn’t been altered at all. This is a direct recording out of Streamlabs OBS (streaming platform) to Twitch and the out-of-the-box settings that my Blue Yeti X came with.
My favorite things about the Yeti X
There’s a lot to like about the Yeti X. Not only is it an excellent microphone for under $200, but it also looks great, too. The designers at Blue take into account a certain aesthetic when designing their products, and it shows in their new flagship USB microphone. If I were to choose one feature to be my favorite, it would have to be the smart knob. I love that you can adjust the microphone and headphone blend, mute with just a push of a button, and adjust the gain all on the front of the device. It makes it easy to take your content to the next level.
Accessories for the Blue Yeti X
My current setup has my microphone on my desk in between me and my computer. If you prefer to have your desk free of your microphone you can buy Blue’s Compass Premium Broadcast Boom Arm to keep your mic suspended in the air. Additionally, the Blue Radius III Shockmount will keep your mic safe from noise, shock, and ambient vibration.
If you’re a fan of Twitch streams, I would appreciate it if you hit the follow button on my gaming channel. Feel free to pick my brain with any streaming questions you might have during my next stream. Happy to help!
Thanks again to Blue for sending over the Yeti X for review. I have been a long time fan of your products and can’t wait to see what you put out next.
