Canon Introduces World’s First Self-Lit Macro Lens

I do a lot of product photography, and one thing I can tell you is, getting a close-up shot with a prime lens is possible, but certainly not ideal. The Canon Self-lit Macro Lens ($300) is making it easier than ever to capture the perfect close-up shot. It’s the world’s first macro lens to feature a ring light built right into the lens, helping capture the perfect amount of light on your subject, while increasing the shutter speed. During normal operation, the Canon Macro has an infinity focus and a 1.2x macro mode for gorgeous magnification. It also uses a Hybrid IS system to help keep images as sharp as possible, and features a focal length of 28mm with a wide f/3.5.
