The click wheel is back. Fosi Audio’s DAP Neo is a modern hi-fi MP3 player that looks like it time-traveled from 2004, in the best way: a tactile scroll wheel, a minimalist UI, and a full-metal CNC-machined housing that weighs just 75 grams.
Underneath the nostalgia is serious hardware. A CS43198 DAC chip delivers hi-res lossless audio with a 127 dB signal-to-noise ratio, and it plays everything from MP3 to FLAC, WAV, APE, M4A, and even DSD. Battery life is rated at 12 hours of nonstop playback.
Storage starts at 16GB with a 64GB option, and you can expand up to 256GB. Connectivity covers both worlds: Bluetooth (SBC) for wireless headphones and a 3.5mm jack for your wired pair. It comes in Galaxy (silver) and Obsidian (black).
The pitch is simple and I like it: no feeds, no notifications, just music. A dedicated player is still the best way to actually listen, especially when your phone is a distraction machine. The 16GB model runs $79.99 and the 64GB is $119.99.
