Schlafly Beer, St. Louis’s pioneering craft brewery, announces the return of its annual Stout and Oyster Festival. This year, the event is slated for March 8-9 at a new venue—Schlafly Bottleworks in Maplewood (7260 Southwest Ave, St. Louis, MO 63143), promising a revamped experience for attendees. The festival, renowned as the Midwest’s largest oyster fest, features an impressive array of over 50,000 fresh oysters flown in overnight from both coasts, accompanied by more than 12 specialty stouts brewed exclusively for the occasion.
The relocation to Schlafly Bottleworks is a strategic move to accommodate the festival’s size and scale, offering a more spacious layout for guests to roam, enjoy live music, and interact with the 20 seasoned oyster shuckers shucking live throughout the weekend. This change also allows the Schlafly Tap Room to focus on hosting CITY SC fans before every match, enhancing its role as a pregame hub for soccer enthusiasts.
Stout and Oyster Festival Dates and Times
- Friday, March 8: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Saturday, March 9: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
What’s New This Year?
CEO David Schlafly expresses enthusiasm for the festival’s return, highlighting the Bottleworks location as the ideal setting for a family-friendly atmosphere where attendees can mingle with the shuckers and enjoy the festivities. The festival’s draw remains its unique blend of specialty stouts, live shucking stories, music, and more, maintaining the essence of what fans have cherished in previous years.
A highlight for beer aficionados is the exclusive draft pavilion, where guests can sample incredible stouts straight from the brewers, including flavors like Mexican Chocolate, Irish Cream, Raspberry Coffee, and more. The festival will also introduce new stout varieties and feature a rotating selection of specialty stouts, ensuring there’s something for every palate.
Live Music and More
The Stout and Oyster Festival doesn’t just stop at food and drink; it’s a full-on celebration with a lineup of live music to keep the party going. The festival boasts performances by local favorites such as the Funky Butt Brass Band, Aaron Kamm And The One Drops, and many others, ensuring a lively backdrop for the weekend’s festivities.
Moreover, the event is set to be a credit card-only affair, with accommodations made for cash transactions at the brewpub’s inside bar. Pets are welcome in designated areas, ensuring a community-friendly vibe. Schlafly encourages the use of public transportation and has partnered with The Cheshire Hotel for those seeking lodging.
