\Weekends are quite strange things, really. They’re meant to be restful, fun, refreshing, and a bit of a reset, but they tend to end up being filled with errands, unfinished jobs, laundry (and more laundry), and the feeling that Sunday evening is coming up far too fast. 

The good news is a weekend escape doesn’t have to mean travelling far away or abandoning the things that have to be done, and there are various ways you can do it. With that in mind, keep reading to find out more about how to make your weekends feel like an escape.

Do Something That Breaks Routine 

The quickest way to make a weekend feel special is to do something you wouldn’t do on a normal weekday. 

That might be taking a morning walk somewhere, for example, or eating breakfast outside and taking your time over it, or visiting a nearby town, and so on. You don’t have to do anything big or expensive, but just a couple of small changes can make the weekend feel different enough to feel more like an escape than just the same old thing once again. 

Go Outside For A Little While 

Fresh air helps a lot more than you might think, and even a short stretch of time outside can make the weekend feel like it’s more enjoyable and that you’ve done something new and interesting – and you’ll feel good about it too. 

Nature can change how you look at things, and going to places like parks, beaches, woods, or perhaps taking a drive in the countryside with no particular destination can be fantastic. Basically anything that gets you out of the usual indoor activities and chores for a bit is sure to make the weekend feel less like work and more like a break. 

Plan One Thing To Look Forward To

Weekends can be a bit vague and directionless if you don’t have at least one thing you want to do that you can plan things around, which is why that’s a good idea. 

It definitely helps to plan one enjoyable thing, not a long list, and have a moment that feels like a nice treat. It could be a meal out, a film night, a trip somewhere local, or something more active and fun, for example. Slow Down The Pace

So what about slowing down on purpose? Just do less and take your time over the things you are doing – even let yourself be bored for a bit. To have an escape, you don’t have to be doing something adventurous and exciting, sometimes you just need to stop altogether and that can work just as well.
