Jaguar took the covers off the Type 01 in New York last night, and the brand’s first production car of the “Copy Nothing” era is just as bold as the controversial pink Type 00 concept promised it would be. The pink is gone, swapped for muted shades, but the attitude survived the trip to production.
The numbers are genuinely wild. A tri-motor setup, two motors on the rear axle and one up front, makes 1,016 horsepower and 1,365 Nm of torque. That makes the Type 01 the most powerful road car Jaguar has ever built, good for 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds. The 850-volt architecture feeds a 120 kWh battery with about 400 miles of EPA range, and a 350 kW charger can add 200 miles in 13 minutes.
The design is the real headline. This is a four-door GT stretching 5.2 meters with a long bonnet that exists purely to echo the 1960s E-type. There is no rear window at all. Rearward visibility comes through a camera, like the Polestar 4. Inside, four seats wrap around a long central spine with a 7-inch smartphone-style display, while the driver gets a 24-inch OLED screen and brass-finish trim that nods to old Jaguars. It is the same kind of beautiful excess I wrote about with the Brabus 900 Rocket Edition Cabrio, just aimed at a totally different kind of buyer.

Order books open in early 2027, starting at £130,000, with deliveries later that year. Jaguar is aiming squarely at Bentley and Rolls-Royce here, and for the first time since the rebrand, I can actually see it.
