Narragansett Beer has released the fourth installment in their Lovecraft Series of beers with ‘I am Providence Imperial Red Ale’. The beer honors legendary horror author, H.P. Lovecraft, and his admiration towards his hometown.
“Lovecraft was a self-described recluse and outsider, taking pleasure in the topographical and architectural scenes of his environment,” said Mark Hellendrung, President of Narragansett Beer. “He had a deep sense of local preference, declaring that, ‘It is New England I must have – in some form or other. Providence is part of me – I am Providence.’ It was with similar spirit and love of place that we endeavored to bring back Narragansett Beer a decade ago. This beer is an extension of the unwavering connection to the city that we both call home.”
Unfortunately, west coasters like myself won’t be able to taste the beer unless calling in a special order. As of right now, ‘I Am Providence Imperial Red Ale’ will only be distributed throughout New England, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, North Carolina, and Florida.
Narragansett’s head brewmaster Sean Larkin has carefully supervised I am Providence Imperial Red Ale, making it an 8% percent ABC and 62 IBUs. If you are lucky enough to find a six pack of these 16-ounce tallboys, expect to pay between $12-13 USD. The exact time and availability for the red ale will vary each market, so keep a lookout.
