Spicy Paloma recipe that will have you wishing it was five o’clock.

Guys and gals, if there is one thing I couldn’t look forward to more than getting out of this pandemic, it would be sharing cocktails with my friends again. Second to that would be enjoying delicious cocktails while soaking in the summer sun. A cocktail perfect for just that was sent to me by my friends at Hornitos Tequila to help celebrate National Cocktail Day on March 24.

Spicy Paloma Recipe

The Spicy Paloma recipe is a unique twist on the classic Paloma cocktail, featuring Hornitos Black Barrel Tequila, jalapeno, grapefruit, and lime.

Spicy Paloma Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ parts Hornitos® Black Barrel® Tequila
  • ¾ part fresh ruby red grapefruit juice
  • ¾ part fresh lime juice
  • ½ part agave syrup
  • Jalapeño
  • Grapefruit

Directions:

Lightly muddle ¼ grapefruit and 4 slices jalapeño in a shaker. Combine the remainder of the ingredients into the shaker over ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice. Garnish with a grapefruit slice.

It would be very easy to make this ahead of time in a pitcher if you are expecting guests or plan on throwing back more than just a couple of them. And trust me, you probably will. I’ve been a huge fan of Palomas since first having one in Mexico a few years back. Adding jalapeno to the mix only amplifies my love of this cocktail.

About Hornitos Black Barrel Tequila

Black Barrel Tequila is Hornitos’ most awarded tequila. It starts as a premium, aged Añejo, then spends four months in deep charred oak barrels to give it rich, smoky flavor and a golden amber color. It spends an additional two months in specially toasted barrels for more depth and distinct complexity.
