12 Years of DFA: Too Old To Be New, Too New To Be Classic

For those that don’t know, DFA is a NYC record label that rose onto the Radar in the early 2000’s. It’s an independent label that has held true to its values since it began, and that basically means getting people to dance. Headed by LCD Soundsystem’s front man James Murphy and Jonathan Galkin (who some may remember from one of my favorite afternoon shows Hey Dude).
The namesake, the artists and the origins are all explored as the label reaches its 13th birthday. Bands like The Rapture, Yacht, Peter Gordon, and of course LCD Soundsytem all call DFA home.
